  • hey qin!

raiden says you've been busy IRL... how's that going for you? how've you been lately?

just thought i'd let you know that we've been a little more active around here lately... tanc's added more to our current chapter, and i'm working on a scene for some future chapter on our Ideas page.

have you had time to watch book 3 yet?

    • And I agree with you. Most of the shows Nick usually promoted lack the quality Avatar has. Avatar has quite a high quality, specially for american cartoons, which often goes marketed towards a younger/less mature audience than for example, anime [which can be marketed towards people for all ages]. Avatar came and it was a really great franchise, with lots of opportunity for further projects [like LOK, for example].

Maybe in other network company, with a greater vision of the potential this show carries...

That would be very awesome. Imagine avatar like star wars for example.

    • i'm not sure i'd like avatar to be like star wars... there's too much expanded universe with SW, and it makes the canon very confusing. although, if they kept just bryke doing their thing, then that would be awesome!

  • Apparently many Japanese Audiences weren't too happy with Hollywood taking too much artistic license with one of their most beloved stories.

This does NOT bode well for the US release, since American films in overseas markets almost always guarantee a profit. If it isn't profitable overseas, it's likely not going to be profitable Stateside.

Furthermore, It is one of the few movies in America to feature a Majority Asian Cast. So when it ultimately flops, and gains Last Airbender levels of hate. Who will take the blame? The films been plagued with strife, production errors, and disagreements between the director and the studio since the first day of shooting.

Like I said. If last Airbender had an all Asian cast, it would've been the cast getting the blame, not Shyamalan's incompetence as a director. So I'm kind of afraid this might be Last Airbender with Asian Actors.

So when this big budget Asian-Inspired film ultimately flops, it's likely going to be the (mostly) Asian cast that takes the blame for the films failure. Likely setting back Asian actors in live Action American films for years to come.

What do you think about this? Is there anything we can do about it?

    • Correct!!

Sadly, in most cases the directors get the short end of the stick, as we discussed above. The directors have some power and liberty but corporate interest obviously overrides that. [#>_<]

      I understand!!

Yes yes, I can see where you're getting at! there's a lot of great actors there, that should have their time and their roles put in relevance rather than simply picking out a famous actor [since he's done The Matrix and all that] which could eventually create a effect where the other actors have reduced roles. Also keeping it as close as the historical event and facts would be better, for the sake of accuracy and precision.

    • I highly recommend checking this article out. It talks about how changing the story and the culture it was originally based in alienated the Japanese Market.

and to top it off, a photo of a depressed Keanu Reeves eating a sandwich, has been circulating the web.

Cheer up bro, I'm sure the next movie will be better!

    • Hmmm Intelligence... it's an interesting question actually. I think that's somewhat possible. If a highly spiritual man like Iroh could , this hints that more people could be able to!

I agree with you on that, Intel! I'm a great fan of Star Wars, and Science Fiction as a whole extent genre even knowing that I'm more about ancient and traditional stuff!!

But Star Wars has one quite curious thing, which is older elements [such as sword fighting, with lightsabers instead] in concepts ranging from visual (places like Naboo, for example are heavily incluencied by the Italian Rennaissance, in architecture, culture, etc) to its core concepts (the philosophy of the Jedi, resembling an honor code like the knights or the japanese bushido, the concept of "The Force" resembling the ideas about an all-encompassing lifeforce found in several religions and beliefs around the world) but yes, that's great!

Hmm... I see! that whole season is worth watching actually! but If I really had to rewatch I'd see The Begginings I/II.  ANSA is a great idea too. But since I like most episodes I see it's difficult to simply sort out... probably City of Walls and Secrets. since it introduces us to so many things [Long Feng, his conspiracy, the best city ever, etc] that will tie later on the plot, AND because it's my personal favorite.

He's awesome, and I've just started the series, Raiden. (^_^)

I was busy watching Kingdom [キングダム] which is set on the warring states (one of the main character is guess who?? Ei Sei!! which is the japanese writing of "Ying Zheng". basically the First Emperor!!) now I'm watching this one, it's an older classic that I didn't saw, however nothing is too late.

Which actually reminds me of that time where you recommended me 'sword of the stranger' which was a great movie!!
