Hey guys. I'm thinking about making a video trailer for Spirits of the Shadows. Does that sound cool? If I know how to make one, I'll make a video (if it's fine with you guys).

Sure. If you can, that'd be great!

Did some fixing up so that the spitbending part makes more sense and added a bit to Yalun's scene. Not quite sure how to proceed, but I'll think of something.

Very descriptive. Sounds almost like a torture device

for ideas on where to go next, i think we (tanc) can start the part where the beggar explains stuff. we've got plenty of material already for the chapter, so i think it would be good to have a good long section of the beggar explaining stuff to yalun and our readers. from there,  we can have yalun break free (with the whole crystal thing and telling the beggar to set him free). then we can do a nilak scene where he's gotten everyone out of their locks before the guards come to.....??[insert some of tanc's creative genius here]...and nilak and the others fake being locked up still. the guards go away with out incidence, but as they turn their backs, assam does that air bullet femur-breaker thing tanc was talking about a long time ago (or at least it feels like a long time ago) where the dude is like "i though airbenders were supposed to be peaceful" and assam basically blows him off (no pun intended) and they all start to run out of there. then we can do another yalun scene starting with him walking around the tunnels trying to find his way out. after a while he hears some noise and rounds a corner to see nilak and co. fully going to it with some cultists. he sneaks up and earthbends at them, and [insert obsidian worms here - we also need them before here too somewhere in a nilak scene]. anyway, they start running out of there, they can see the entrance to the cave at the top of the slope(make it a light at the end of the tunnel kinda thing), and just as they are getting to the surface, one of them who hasn't had much action yet (assam or li) gets tripped by a whip that was cracked at his legs, entageling them. the yalunit turns around to see three js there in the tunnel behind them. yalun recognizes the one on the end as the beggar priest (cuz tanc said they make him a js instead of yalun) and before anyone can do anything, qin angerly jumps foward shouting [insert something appropriate to the situation he would shout] and shoots a massive bolt of lightning into the tunnel, striking the middle one and frying him completely, and the two end ones are severly injured. (you would be too if you were next to a lightning bolt - those things heat the air to temps hotter than the surface of the sun!!!) anyway, the blast from the lighting (ya know expansion of the air and physics and stuff) threw the rest of them much closer to the surface, and they see that it is raining, no, absolutely downpouring outside. they start running out of the cave, and hear amala roar. they run through the streets in the direction of the sound, and they come to the town square to see villagers with pickaxes and firebending trying to subdue amala, who is hovering close to the ground, and the gusts she's bending to keep herself aloft are causing trouble for the villagers - much like a helocopter taking off. yalun and nilak go ham with waterbending the rain, assam looses it and airbends like nobody's business, and qin and li are still recovering from the lightning blast a bit. li gathers his wits and reaches deep into the ground and earthbends up more obsidian worms (but keep in mind nobody knows they are called that until one of the villagers or someone yells it in fear of them). they all bend themselfs into the air and onto amala's back. qin spots the js from the cave desperately trying to catch up, but just as they are about to take off one of the villagers lassos amala's foot, and everyone else trys to do the same. she gets low enough for the js to jump and grab her tail, and they start to feed, weakening her even more. assam, still in a rage, grabs his monk's spade, jumps, and uses it to airslice the js's arms off and free amala, in the process falling off her back. qin sends arcs of flame down to burn the ropes around each of amala's feet, and she takes off to the sky, but not leaving too far b/c of assam, who is on the ground, surrounded. yalun reaches out and bends the rain on the ground and in the air and makes an ice wall protecting assam, and assam takes off using his spade as a glider. amala starts flying away, and assam catches up and lands lightly on her head/neck and the group flys away into the stormy night, accompianed with some commentary on how bad the js problem is, and how they need those scrolls. (imagine the endings of atla when they fly off into the night sky, but much darker). the chapter ends, and sets up the next one, with qin saying he knows of a great spirit library where they might be able to get the scrolls.

whew, long post!

another thing we have to do before publishing is check for goofs - like landing in the forest at sundown, but then having the sun shine a few minutes later, or something like that. little plot holes 'n' stuff. i think our goal should be to publish by 10/1. i never imagined this would take so long to do - it took us (read: tanc) a whole summer to publish only three chapters!!

oh no wait a sec i forgot we're doing teh wandering warrior chapter next, not the scrolls - oh nevermind, that doesn't have to affect the ending. we can just say qin doesn't know where the library is, so in the next chapter, yalun meditates to see if any of his past lives remember where it is, and a few incarnations back, he remembers.

Sounds good to me. This week will be a little tough with getting writing in due to a lab practical on Wednesday, but I'll do what I can.

haha, wednesday is my lab day too - it sucks because it's 7-10pm. what lab are you doing?
